TRON energy guide
How USDT (TRC20) transfers use energy, and how to avoid burning TRX. 中文版
What is TRON energy?
Energy is the TRON resource that pays for smart-contract execution, similar to gas on Ethereum. USDT on TRON is a TRC20 contract token, so every USDT transfer needs energy. If the sending address has none, the network burns TRX from the wallet instead — roughly 6.5–13 TRX per transfer, depending on network conditions.
Rent instead of burn
- 2 TRX → 65,150 energy, enough for one USDT transfer.
- 4 TRX → 130,300 energy, enough for two transfers, or one transfer to an address that has never held USDT.
- Energy usually arrives within about 1 second.
- No staking, no contract approvals. You only send the TRX fee.
Step by step
- From the wallet you will send USDT from, send 2 TRX to:
TKfWE2bYFCheng8sZkvmb2ZGCmM8VkuBn5 - Wait about 1 second for 65,150 energy to appear on that address.
- Send your USDT (TRC20) transfer as usual. It uses the rented energy instead of burning ~6.5–13 TRX.
Wallets
Any self-custody wallet that can send TRX on TRON works, for example TronLink or Trust Wallet. Pay from your own wallet, not an exchange withdrawal: energy is credited to the sending address, which would be the exchange’s.
